DR. FIDELIA OHEMENG

Sociologist

Dr. (Mrs.) Fidelia Ohemeng is an astute Sociologist and holds a PhD from University of Ghana, an MA from the Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario - Canada where she specialized in Gerontology, and a BA in Sociology with Psychology from the University of Ghana.
Fidelia has a strong leaning towards the aged and generally, the vulnerable in society. She has a strong research base and has delved deeply into Social Construction, Language and Migration, and causes of disease pattern in society. She has strong social interaction prowess that always come to light in designing instruments for social data gathering and interpretation of such data. She was part of a team of three Sociologists on the Dynamic Drivers of Diseases in Africa Consortium (DDAC) based in the United Kingdom, which had the aim of exploring the interaction between indigenous people and bats in three communities - Tanoboase in the Brong Ahafo region, 37 Military Hospital in the Greater Accra region and Ve Golokoati in the Volta Region. She was also part of a team tasked with evaluating the Health Insurance Project of the National Health Insurance Scheme, coordinating the project in the Eastern and Volta Regions. Fidelia was the Sociologist tasked to conduct an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for the ASG group seeking to establish a thermal plant at Inchaban in the Ahanta District of the Western Region and was the lead Sociologist on the ESIA study for the generation of energy from Plant biomass undertaken in the Eastern Region for Village Corps and funded by USTDA. She has presented several papers in her field of study. In addition to consultancy, she lectures at the Sociology Department at the University of Ghana.
