Our Team

Dr. Frank Anim
PhD in Environmental Hydrology; MPhil in Environmental Science; BSc; Dip.Ed.

Dr. Anim is an environmental, safety, sanitation and water resources management consultant and researcher with over 15 years of experience. During this period, he has been instrumental in devising various tools in unearthing the fundamental challenges underpinning Environment, Water Resources, Sanitation and Safety problems. His ability to apply various computer software in a complementary manner to any set of data provides him with a better understanding in analysing and interpreting data with appropriate recommendations and cogent alternatives. He has pioneered and developed cutting edge tools for environmental and safety management assessment. For instance he was key in designing tools for the Knowledge and Review (KaR) study for Small Scale Private Sector Participation in Rural Water Supply for DFID/Water Resources Management, UK, Water Aid and Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) for the Ghana, which was adopted by Zambia and Tanzania as model tool in 2004.

Dr. Anim was also one of the brains behind the development of criteria for assessing the Environmental Performance Rating and Public Disclosure (EPRPD) for the mining sector in Ghana in 2005, which has become the benchmark for the Ghanaian Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in assessing the environmental compliance of the mining industry now known as the Akoben Rating. He also played a lead role in developing a compensation policy and monitoring framework for the mining sector in Ghana in 2009. He was also a pioneer in developing a format for auditing environmental, health and safety impact for the Small Town Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Ghana in 2008, during which he developed an Environmental Compliance List (ECL) used as a yardstick for assessing the level of environmental, health and safety compliance for the project. This was later developed and adopted as an environmental, health and safety monitoring tool for feeder roads rehabilitation projects under the MiDA pack projects.

Dr. Anim’s wide range of consultancy on environmental assessments (including Environmental Impact Assessment-EIAs, Environmental Management Plans-EMPs, Preliminary Environmental Reports-PEAs, Environmental and Safety Monitoring/Auditing), Impact of Mining on ground and surface water resources, Waste Management, Sanitation studies, Social intervention studies such as Resettlement Action Plans-RAP and Livelihood Re-engagement studies, Perception and behavioural change studies, altogether has endowed him with a broad idea on issues involving the environment and society. Frank's professional work has also brought him in close association with many MDAs and Commissions in Ghana and in the Sub-region and other multinationals donor agencies. His professional life which has also been in close association with most rural and farming communities and those in the low income brackets makes him readily accepted even in the most hostile environment. Frank, undoubtedly, interacts well with people irrespective of social, academic, political and religious backgrounds with the sole aim of achieving the best of results for any assigned task. His diverse academic backgrounds, as a professional trained teacher, a biologist, environmental scientist and hydrologist, afford him unusual strength, especially in the most difficult and nerve breaking situation and easily comes out with cutting edge, workable and acceptable solutions and/or alternatives.
